Can you spot a fake smile?

(If you tried this link the other day and it didn't work, try again; I re-pasted it.)

I don't generally go for tests and such, but this one was fun, and gave me much to--ahem--smile about.

Click here to take the test.

Report your results. I got 12 out of 20, which surprised me. I thought I knew fake smiles!

Oh, I'm really bad at spotting a fake. Interesting test. I may try it again sometime. See if I've learned anything.

18 out of 20. It was the eyes that told me the most if they were faking it...although there were a couple that really stumped me. Nice to keep in mind when writing, though.

This was cool. I got 19 out of 20: ) I took the test really quickly and watched the movement in the upper cheeks. "Ah, you're faking it!"

I guess having known all those thieves, liars and cheats back in Atlantic City is good for something besides memoir! Ha ha!

Well, I took it a second time, blocking out the nose and mouth, and just trying to focus on the eyes, and got 15 out of 20. The eyes don't lie....

Hey, Elle...."Liars, Thieves and Cheats in Atlantic City" sounds like a title...!

Heh. This reminds me of the person who said that we all lie 200 times a day on average! Does a fake smile really constitute a lie?

I got 16 out of 20 correct... this really amused me... half way through i was like i dont know what i'm looking for anymore! but i was watching the eyes mostly.

I got 15 out of 20. I thought too many were genuine when they were fake but didn't claim any to be fake that were genuine. Or something like that. How cool!

Marilyn said...i knew i'd do fairly well, but 15 out
of 20 kind of surprised me. It's because i'm so
hyper-sensitive, and can smell a phony 20 yards
away. Now how to spin this creatively, that's my
quesion. (a fun exercise in any event--)

I got 16 out of 20. I thought that was pretty good. I too tend to be very sensitive, but have also learned I'm not necessarily a good judge on first impressions.
