Tomorrow's show: Orange County Noir--what else?
Barbara in flight, because the book is doing well....
Sweet, brilliant, witty Patricia...
Gary, who doesn't look like he'd have the most booming laugh in the entire Southern California area, but he does...
And the articulate, funny and oh-so-svelt Marrie Stone ...
Tune in tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Pacific time for Writers on Writing, featuring Marrie Stone as host, and Orange County Noir contributors Gary Phillips (editor as well as writer), Patricia McFall, and Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, who will discuss the short story, noir fiction, and their stories included in Orange County Noir, which made the SCIBA bestseller list last week, its first week out.
Listen at 88.9 FM in Orange Co., CA, or listen online at www.kuci.org or at iTunes>radio>Talk/News.

Today's show was another magnificent one. Marrie's interview with three of the OC Noir authors was fantastic. She asked questions I had been wondering, specifically how noir is defined, if the authors did any research when writing their stories, what process was used to create the dialogue, and embracing or trying to avoid stereotypes. It was informative and I couldn't tear myself away from the show to get ready for a meeting...I also LOVED hearing the authors read an excerpt from their short stories. For me, hearing the words read in their own voice was a window into their brilliant minds and how they saw the story as they wrote it...Oh, and Gary Phillips booming laughter was a show highlight in and of itself. Perhaps it was a reason the weather today was perfect - Gary's laugh kept the clouds away...
Thanks also for making it available to download so quickly. Now I can listen all over again.
Barbara - another question I had for you is, how'd you come up with "Pshaw?" - great expression and hilarious as heck!
Funny....I thought everyone knew that expression...; } An ex from my teen years/early 20s who was Irish would say this and it just stuck!
